Who is behind Military Ranks US
Radif Partners
Independent publisher of a rank, insignia and basic pay reference for the six US armed forces, built on the Department of War rank chart and the DFAS pay tables
Military Ranks US is published by Radif Partners, a company that builds free reference tools on public rules. This one exists because the question "what rank is that, and what does it pay?" has six answers, one per service, while the rank chart, the service sites and the pay tables each sit on a different official page. We read those pages and put them side by side, grade by grade.
What the site does
The rank lookup gives the title, insignia, group and equivalents of any grade in any service, with its 2026 basic pay. The pay calculator reads the DFAS tables at any length of service and shows the pending 2027 proposals as estimates. The insignia quiz tests the chart's images. Each service and each pay grade has a page.
Where the facts come from
Rank titles and insignia from the Department of War rank chart; descriptions and unit sizes from army.mil; pay from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service; history and the 2027 bills from the Congressional Research Service and congress.gov. Every fact carries its source and the date we read it. The method page describes the checks.
What we are not
We are not the Department of War, a military service, DFAS or a recruiting office, and no service reviews these pages. We give no career, financial or legal advice, and we cannot check anyone's own pay or record.
How the site is paid for
Nothing is sold here and there is no affiliate link. If advertising is added one day, it will never sit inside a tool, and it cannot use what you enter, which never leaves your browser.
Tell us when something is wrong
Charts change and tables are republished. If a fact differs from the official page, write to contact@militaryranksus.com with the page. The editorial policy explains how a correction is made and dated. The site has 45 pages of tools and guides.
